Goshen to hold ribbon-cutting for new Redhawk Fire Academy
GOSHEN, Ind. -- The City of Goshen, Goshen Fire Department, and Goshen Community Schools announced they will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the brand new Redhawk Fire Academy on Thursday at 10 a.m.
The academy will allow Goshen High School juniors and seniors to complete fire and EMS training starting this school year.
The academy classroom is located at the Chandler Education Center at 419 S 8th St.
City officials initially announced their partnership with GHS in February, when they also announced the fire training opportunity.
Officials say upon completing the two-year program, students will have the certifications to fulfill all requisite skills required to be hired as firefighters or EMTs.
Goshen Mayor Gina Leichty, Goshen Community Schools Superintendent Jim DuBois, Goshen High School Principal Cathy DeMeyer, Goshen Fire Chief Dan Sink, and Division Chief of Education Travis Peak will all attend the morning celebration.
