GOSHEN, Ind. -- The summer reading program at Goshen Public Library will begin on Sunday, June 1, and last for two months.
The program is open to all ages and offers opportunities to set reading goals, try new experiences, and attend library programs to
win prizes.
Fun activities for the kids include 'Funday Mondays' each Monday in June, involving programs like Professor Steve’s Science of Color, Soarin’ Hawk with a local raptor rehabilitation center, and a ballet folklórico performance from Las Guadalupana.
“It’s the perfect time for families in our community to enjoy spending time and learning together and with the resources the library has to offer.” said Ann-Margaret Rice, Library Director.
There will also be 'Summer Reading Book Giveaways' held by Goshen Public Library occurring on each Tuesday in June. The library will pack up hundreds of books and travel to Pringle Park in Goshen, where anyone 18 or under can select a free book to keep.
“Kids are so much more likely to read and love books that they have selected for themselves.” said Grace Thomas, Development & Community Engagement Manager at the library.
Fun activities for teens include tie dye, a visit to the Printmakers Guild downtown, an escape room, or even participating in a Cupcake War program.
Adults have the opportunity to try out different library services, read different books than normal, read for 30 days over the summer, all to earn badges.
Different prizes will be available at the end of the reading challenge.
