GOSHEN, Ind. -- Goshen Hospital has announced the implementation of visitor restrictions due to the high transmission rates of respiratory illnesses in the community.

Officials say the guidelines are designed to protect patients, visitors, and colleagues.

Guidelines for the Goshen Hospital and Center for Cancer Care:

  • Visitors must be healthy adults, 18 or older.
  • A maximum of two visitors per patient at any given time. Healthy adults may rotate, and a clergy member will be allowed in addition to the two visitors.

The Birthplace guidelines:

  • Two visitors in the room at one time may rotate, in addition to one pre-approved doula.

Hospital officials say exceptions can be made for end-of-life situations.

“At Goshen Hospital, the health and safety of our patients, visitors, and colleagues are our top priorities. Given the current high transmission rates of respiratory illnesses in our community, it is crucial that we take these additional precautions. We understand that these restrictions may not be each family’s preference, but they are necessary to ensure a safe environment for everyone. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time," said Randy Christophel, CEO, Goshen Health.
