ABC57 First Warning Neighborhood Weather Forecast
Wednesday, December 30th, 2020
Freezing rain is falling in NW Michiana this morning creating a layer of ice on the roads that last nights snow had previously been cleared. Concerns for ice will begin to fade around 6 AM and any snow on the roads will turn slushy as freezing rain turns to just rain.
The rest of today is soggy with wintry mix briefly possible as the system moves out this evening. Colder air moves in behind it, dropping temperatures in the 30s for Thursday. After the ball drops of New Year’s Eve, freezing drizzle will be possible. The morning of New Year’s Day, freezing rain pushes into our area which will likely lead to slick roads. Thankfully less people will be on the roads because of the holiday. If you are needing to travel on the roads, wait until the afternoon when the freezing rain turns to just rain. The weekend is quieter with highs in the 30s.
Today: Rainy and breezy. High 40.
Tonight: Cloudy. Low 27.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy. High 33.
New Year's Day: Freezing rain before 10:00 a.m. Then rainy. High 41.
