Former Michigan City Housing Authority chairman faces federal bribery charges

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- The former chairman of the Michigan City Housing Authority is facing federal bribery charges.

Rodney McCormick is accused of accepting $13,000 in kickbacks from housing authority contractors.

Federal prosecutors say in 2023 McCormick solicited and accepted two bribes from two companies bidding to do renovations on public housing units in Michigan City.

One of the alleged payments was for $8,000 while the second was for $5,000, according to the indictment.

There's been no comment from McCormick's attorney as of Wednesday.
