MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- A former Notre Dame men's basketball player teamed up with a Detroit Pistons player to host a back-to-school giveaway for local kids.
Demetrius Jackson teamed up Jaden Ivey and the Detroit Pistons for the Elevate with Eleven back-to-school giveaway at Marian High School Saturday morning. Both Jackson and Ivey played basketball at Marian High School.
The event started at 11:00 a.m. and involved giving school supplies to children in the Michiana area.
"We wanted to make sure we could equip all of our future leaders with the supplies they need and provide them with an opportunity to learn more about basketball, you know, character development, but you know, just to bring us together as a community," said Jackson.
Niele Ivey, current Notre Dame Women's Basketball Head Coach also added, "South Bend has been so good to my family, so good to me, so good to Jaden. Their continued support him at Purdue, and now with the Pistons so this is our way of saying thank you."
The giveaway provided more than 100 backpacks and school supplies for local kids!
