Former bowling coach charged with several counts of child molesting

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies arrested 33-year-old Tyler Collins on Jan. 16, for several charges of child molesting and sexual misconduct stemming from reported incidents between 2012 and 2014.

Court documents state the victim told Elkhart authorities in December 2024, that in April of 2012, Collins began a sexual relationship with them when they were 13.

Documents state that Collins was the victim's bowling coach at Signature Lanes, as well as a coach at Concord High School.

The victim told police they and Collins had sexual intercourse in the back of his vehicle in the parking lot of Signature Lanes in April 2012.

Collins was 20 years old at the time, according to court documents.

The victim told authorities they and Collins continued having sexual intercourse from April 2012 until September 2014.

Documents state that Collins and the victim also had intercourse at his residence and the woods outside his residence.

The victim further told authorities that during a "lock-in" at Signature Lanes in June 2014, the two snuck off and had intercourse in the bowling alley office.

On January 16, authorities say Collins provided a statement after waiving his Miranda rights, admitting that he was in sexual relationship with the victim which ended around 2015.

Court documents state Collins admitted to having intercourse with the victim twice in Elkhart County and also told authorities he and the victim engaged in sexual activity inside and outside of Signature Lanes on at least four or five occasions.

Collins is charged with Child Molesting, a Class A Felony, Child Molesting, a Class B Felony, Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, a Class B Felony, and Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, a Level 4 Felony

He was given a $750,000 Surety bond.
