Food and Drug Administration warns of social media challenges involving NyQuil, chicken

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning parents and guardians of a new social media video challenge that encourages viewers to cook chicken in NyQuil.

The chicken is cooked in Nyquil or a similar OTC cough and cold medication to then eat.

The FDA warns that boiling a medication can make it much more concentrated and change its properties.

Even if the chicken isn't eaten, inhaling the medication's vapors can cause high levels of drugs to enter the body or hurt the lungs, according to the FDA.
