Firehouse Subs franchise celebrates five years in Mishawaka with a community fundraiser

NOW: Firehouse Subs franchise celebrates five years in Mishawaka with a community fundraiser

MISHAWAKA, Ind., -- You can support the community by using the power of your lunch. Firehouse Subs in Mishawaka is giving back to a local non-profit for its five-year anniversary.

On Monday, franchise owners Tammie and Jeff Williams are hosting a community commitment day.

Fifty percent of Monday's sales will be donated to Heroes Camp, a local organization close to their hearts, dedicated to shaping the lives of young men throughout the South Bend and Mishawaka community. Firehouse Subs has worked with the organization throughout the last five years.

It's made donations to Heroes Camp in the past, providing food for the non-profit, but Jeff Williams says this is the first event in which the community can help raise funds.

"We opened the restaurant as kind of a second career for my wife and I, and it's something we've always wanted to do was open a restaurant, and the ability to give back to the community has been that added bonus," said Williams. "We opened the restaurant with a desire to support our community and so we do that with the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, and here locally we do that with Heroes Camp."

For the Williams, celebrating the business's five-year anniversary by offering community support is a no-brainer.

"We've received over 193-thousand dollars in grants for our local community here in South Bend, Mishawaka and Elkhart, just since we’ve opened," said Jeff Williams. "And we're really proud of that because the community support is really wonderful."

Through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, the Mishawaka franchise has granted more than $193,000 throughout greater South Bend. Most of the funds support local fire departments and other public safety departments in the area, however, Monday's fundraiser supports Heroes Camp. The organization operates fully on donations. It offers sports, art classes, meals, Bible studies and more to young men and boys in the community that are in need of father figures.

You can head to the Firehouse Subs in Mishawaka starting at 10:30a.m to 9 p.m. on September 26.
