Fire destroys home Edwardsburg home

A home in the 66000 block of Hess Road was destroyed in a fire Sunday.

A neighbor called 911 after seeing flames from the home around 7 p.m.

No one was home at the time.

The homeowner says their dog was killed in the fire.

The fire chief say the biggest challenge was getting crews and their equipment to the scene because of it’s location.

While the road is wide enough for cars, it is too thin for tanker trucks to turn around.

Water had to be trucked in with tanker trucks, dropped into porter tanks, and fire hoses had to stretch a few thousand feet to reach the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
