Fire at Prairie View Landfill leads to multiple units responding

SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Early this morning the Madison Township Fire Department, in collaboration with the Bremen Fire Department, where dispatched to the Prairie View Landfill on reports of a fire.
Upon arriving to the scene, members of the fire department entered the property to find a large working fire. Additional resources were requested from different departments as the fire began to grow.
This incident resulted in over 150,000 gallons of water to be used for extinguishment, and units from three different counties responding.
During their fight to extinguish the fire, landfill employees arrived and were able to assist, using heavy equipment to help control the spread of the fire.
After six and a half hours, the firefighters were able to clear the scene at around 9 a.m.
