Grassroots movement forms bipartisan coalition rallying to protect democracy

NILES -- A grassroots effort is underway in Southwest Michigan.
What started as a group chat between concerned citizens worried about the Trump Administration has now become the 'Coalition 4 Democracy.'
They describe themselves as a bipartisan movement speaking out against government overreach.
"I think we are at a turning point in America," says 'Coalition 4 Democracy' member Angela Jones. "This is going to be a defining moment on where our democracy goes. Are we going to go down the path of authoritarian government? Or are we going to continue into democracy as if nothing had happened?"
President Trump is expected a full report on April 20, recommending whether or not to invoke the Insurrection Act to take control of the southern border.
Karen Kemp is a concerned citizen and part of the 'Coalition 4 Democracy' movement.
"I can't say I grew up interested in politics," Karen says. "In fact, where I come from, it's something that you didn't talk about, but I believe in current years, it's something that we should be talking about."
The 'Coalition 4 Democracy' is rallying at the corner of Main and Second Streets in Niles on Saturday, April 19 at 2:00 p.m.
