SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The city of South Bend has officially opened a Financial Empowerment Center inside the recently opened Martin Luther King Junior Dream Center.
The center will have trained counselors to help people and families that have low or moderate incomes, and help them manage their finances, pay their own debt, and even increase their savings.
"I think one of the real advantages of goals is that you can create a relationship with your counselor, and there's no limit to the number of times that it takes or that you need to meet with that counselor to achieve the goals that you want," stated Near Northwest Neighborhood Executive Director Kathy Schuth.
Appointments can be either in person or over the phone and are available in both English and Spanish.
