ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred near Wagner Avenue and Delaware Street Wednesday morning and left one person injured.

Police responded to Elkhart General Hospital around 1:22 a.m. after a man walked in with an apparent gunshot wound.

Authorities' initial investigation determined the victim was traveling in a vehicle when he was struck by gunfire near the intersection of Wagner Avenue and Delaware Street.

The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made at this time.
