ELKHART, Ind. -- For the first time ever, a Chick-Fil-A will open its doors to the city of Elkhart on Thursday.
The store, located at the intersection of County Road 6 and Cassopolis Street, will be the first in the county.
Elkhart resident, Amari Johnson, shared her excitement with the new location.
“I always hated driving like 30-45 minutes all the way up to Mishawaka to get that Chick-Fil-A, so it’s really great that now it’s like five minutes from my house.” said Johnson.
While locals are excited about the opening, some have expressed concerns over the potential increase in traffic along the already busy County Road 6.
To help curb this, special lane assists have been put in place and the Elkhart Chick-Fil-A has posted a map of the most convenient route for excited day-one customers to take.
The Elkhart Police Department said in a statement that they would assist with additional traffic control if needed.
Chick-Fil-A opens its doors at 6:30 a.m. Thursday.
