High-speed pursuit ends in collision after driver flees police at 100 MPH

ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports that one person is in the hospital after a man fleeing from the Elkhart Police Department at speeds around 100 MPH, ended in a collision.

Around 1:06 AM, 19-year-old Jael Jair Paz-Perez, was fleeing police traveling South on CR 9 towards CR 2, colliding into the rear driver's side of another vehicle that was traveling East on CR 26 and had entered the intersection.

The driver was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.

Jael Jair Paz-Perez had no injuries; his charges are currently pending.

This crash is being investigated by the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office Crash investigation Team.
