Elkhart police arrest three runaway teens on charges of burglary, criminal mischief
ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart police officers arrested three teenagers, 13, 14, and 15 years old, on charges of Runaway, Burglary, and Criminal Mischief on Sunday for allegedly robbing the Marathon gas station at 3910 S. Main St.
According to the manager of the gas station, three unknown male suspects threw a piece of concrete through a building window, entered the building without permission, and took several boxes of vape pens; a display case containing pocketknives/other knives; and several thermal face/ski masks.
He called authorities at around 6:03 a.m. Sunday morning.
At approximately 12:16 p.m. that afternoon, officers heard about three males that matched the descriptions of the suspects near Energy Oil at 1245 S. Main St.
According to EPD, an officer saw the three boys near the intersection of Canary Street and Midtown Court and all three were detained.
During the investigation, officers learned all three had been reported as runaways to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office the night before.
They were transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
