ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart City Councilmembers approved $2 million of critical funding for the Concord Mall redevelopment project Monday night.
The 80-acre site is set for a $20 million makeover, turning the dying mall into a mixed-use development with retail space and housing.
"To see it, something done with something that was previously thriving, it's nice to hear about that and see that," says Goldie Nuet, an Elkhart resident.
Councilmembers expect work to begin on the project as soon as this week.
