Edwardsburg community helping neighbors after mass storm damage
EDWARDSBURG, Mich. -- ABC57’s Blake Parker spoke with residents across Edwardsburg about the damage they got during the Sunday afternoon storm.
There, one community member, Deanna Brown, showed the impact her home took: the garage almost entirely collapsed, the roof cracked, and giant trees blocking off the back door.
After the storm passed through, her neighbors were quick to come help clean up, even though everyone had their own mess to deal with.
“There are always blessings that come out of this, and we had members from down the street come here with their chainsaws, we didn’t ask anyone to, they just showed up in our front yard and they started cutting the branches, stacking the wood… I moved here, I heard about community… and just have witnessed it firsthand, above and beyond. I just, I just wanna be more like the people who live here in Edwardsburg,” said Brown.
For Brown, the most important thing was that her community walked away unharmed.
“We were safe and so, this is material stuff, yes it’s a pain, but it’s just material things,” said Brown.
