Early morning crash claims driver's life Monday in Kosciusko County

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- Kosciusko County authorities are currently investigating a fatal single vehicle crash that happened on Old Road 30, roughly 220 feet east of Old Trail Road, in eastern Kosciusko County in Washington Township on Monday morning.

Authorities say the call came in around 7:54 a.m. of a single vehicle crash and when emergency personnel arrived on scene, they found a 2002 Chevy Silverado pick-up truck pulling an enclosed trailer that had crashed off the side of the road. 

The initial investigation shows 44-year-old Christopher L. Rinehart, of North Webster, was driving west on Old Road 30. He was taking a curve when, for an unknown reason, his truck left the northside of the road, came back on to the road, and the proceeded across the eastbound lanes. 

The truck continued down into a ditch before coming to rest after hitting a tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT).
