E-Coli concerns close multiple beaches in Berrien County

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – The Berrien County Health Department on Tuesday issued an Advisory of high levels of E-Coli in multiple swimming areas off Rocky Gap County Park.

"No swimming allowed until further notice," the BCHD said. "The health department will retest the water."

BCHD Environmental Health Manager Nick Margaritis says the increased levels of E-Coli are likely caused by the increased rain we've been experiencing lately.

Beaches currently closed in Berrien County

  • Union Pier - Townline Road
  • Warren Dunes Beach
  • Weko Beach
  • Jean Klock Park
  • Rocky Gap

There was no timeline given for the retesting or the potential reopening of the beaches.

Current and future water test results are posted on the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy's website.
