Driver injured after car rolls several times in two-vehicle crash

ABC 57

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to S.R. 19 just south of the intersection of C.R. 28 around 4:49 p.m. Monday for a two-vehicle crash.

Deputies say a 2015 Ford passenger vehicle, driven by a 30-year-old Warsaw woman, had come to a stop on S.R. 19 facing north at the intersection with its turn signal on to turn west onto C.R. 28.

The report states a 2014 Chevy passenger vehicle, driven by a 70-year-old Elkhart woman, was also traveling north on S.R. 19 behind the Ford and attempted to pass it on the left at the intersection.

After passing the Ford, the Chevy attempted to reenter the northbound lane but collided with the Ford's driver side corner.

The collision resulted in the 70-year-old driver losing control of the vehicle and rolling onto its driver's side before rolling at least five to six more times before coming to a rest on its roof in the southbound lane of S.R. 19.

The crash resulted in damage to the front driver's side of the Ford and extensive damage to Chevy.

The 70-year-old woman was treated on scene for head and wrist injuries before being taken to Elkhart General Hospital for further treatment.

The other driver was uninjured.
