ABC 57

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports on Wednesday, June 26, at 12:22 p.m., deputies responded to a crash near C.R. 9 and C.R. 4, involving a car and a motorcycle.

The report states a 2010 Buick Enclave, driven by 59-year-old Charlotte L Stoddard of Granger, was travelling south on C.R. 9 approaching the intersection of C.R. 4.

A 2024 Yamaha motorcycle, ridden by 32-year-old Robert A Meyer of Elkhart, was travelling west on C.R. 4 and turning south onto C.R. 9.

Meyer continued from the intersection of C.R. 4, while at the same time Stoddard also continued south on C.R. 9.

The report goes on to say Stoddard followed too closely and got next to Meyer's right side in the same lane when Meyer then lost control of his motorcycle.

The motorcycle then hit Stoddard's driver's side rear tire.

Meyer's motorcycle sustained damage on its right side and a flat tire.

Meyer suffered an ankle injury and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital by on-scene medics.

Stoddard was issued a citation for following too close.
