Dredging project on Hudson Lake affecting public access and boating

Indiana Department of Natural Resources

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- Public access and boating are going to be temporarily affected in the Hudson Lake because of a dredging project aimed to improve boating access.

The project is expected to last until the fall and is funded by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Lake and River Enhancement Program, and Hudson Lake Conservation Association.

The improvements will consist of hydraulically pumping sediment from the access channel and a navigation channel between the lake’s east and west basins to an upland area on the northwest end of the lake.

This will potentially result in a temporary blockage or restriction near the sites due to dredging equipment or piping on the lake.

Plan accordingly and boat responsibly near obstacles until completion of the project.
