MISHAWAKA, Ind.--- Penn Harris Madison School Corporation's superintendent Dr. Jerry Thacker gave updates to the district's "Return to Learn" plan at the Board of Trustees meeting Monday. Middle and high school students can return to in person instruction on a hybrid schedule starting January 19th.
"I’m very excited about the opportunity to the students return to school on the 19th," said Thacker. "We know that having school in person is the best kind of learning that will take place for them. It’s good academically, it’s good socially, it’s good for their social emotional well being."
Thacker says despite the more serious strain of COVID-19 now being present in Indiana, he believes in person instruction is the best way to ensure academic success for both students and teachers.
"We know that we need to make sure to continue with the practices, making sure we have masks for the students, masks for the employees covering the nose and the mouth," said Thacker. "We need to make sure we have appropriate social distancing whenever possible a lot of hand washing, sanitizing, and having those good protocols in place."
