Doctor charged with failure to timely report abortion

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A South Bend doctor has been charged with failure to timely file a public report for allegedly failing to file the proper paperwork after performing an abortion on a girl under 14-years-old.
Dr. Ulrich Klopfer is accused of failing to file a report with the Indiana State Department of Health and the Indiana Department of Child Services within three days of the January 25, 2013 abortion.
Court documents say Dr. Klopfer reported the abortion on the 13-year-old to the Indiana State Department of Health on July 25, 2013, and never reported it to the Indiana Department of Child Services.
Dr. Klopfer will be in court again on July 18. The charge is a misdemeanor.
