NILES, Mich. – Michigan’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division Region 5 will be conducting a dive team exercise in the St. Joseph River on September 10th. The exercise will be happening in downtown Niles at the riverfront area.

Multiple agencies and organizations will be doing operations throughout most of the day, including Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, and the US Coast Guard.

There will be activity in and around the river from the Marmont Street boat launch to the south Riverfront Park boat launch.

Additional activity will be happening at Riverfront Park near Ferry St. and at Lakeland Hospital.

There may be other exercises happening at these locations on September 9th as personnel prepare for the events on Thursday.

The training exercises may impact traffic or access to certain areas of downtown.
