Deputies investigating possible case of shaken baby syndrome

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department is investigating a possible case of shaken baby syndrome.

A 26-year-old woman took her 3-month-old daughter to Elkhart General Hospital Tuesday around 5 p.m.

She told deputies her daughter was battered by one of her babysitters. The child had two broken legs, a broken arm and shaken baby syndrome, according to preliminary reports.

The sheriff's department is working with the Department of Child Services to determine what happened.

There are no updates on the child's condition.
