Deputies identify man killed in crash with fire truck

PORTER COUNTY, Ind. - Porter County deputies identified the victim of a deadly crash near Michigan City as 66-year-old Terry Romich of Green Lake, Pennsylvania.

The crash happened at the intersection of U.S. 20 and Indiana 520, near the County Line border, around 2 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies say the driver of the fire truck was traveling west on U.S. 20 when the vehicle Romich was in pulled out in front of him, not yielding to the right of way.

Romich was not the driver of the vehicle.

Unable to stop in time, the fire truck hit the driver’s side of Romich’s vehicle.

The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire.

Two people were trapped inside the vehicle Romich was in but were pulled out by the time emergency crews arrived.

Romich died at the scene.
