SOUTH BEND -- A crowd gathered together outside the Morris Performing Arts Center for the "We Choose to Fight" movement, standing up and speaking out against President Trump's government transformation.
Demonstrators also rallied to show their dissatisfaction for local Republican elected leadership.
Local democratic leaders and activists came to show their support, including Dr. Valerie McCray, clinical psychologist and the democratic candidate who ran for the Senate seat against Republican candidate, Sen. Jim Banks.
"I think the name of the game in Washington right now is to overwhelm us. So we have to get organized, and we have to be laser focused on what's important," says Dr. McCray.
Dr. McCray added, "What's important is for the welfare of the people and that's the bottom line. Whatever it takes, we got to push it back. Whatever this mess is in Washington, we got to push it back."
The demonstration was part of a larger, nationwide movement called 50-50-1 which signifies 50 states, 50 protests, 1 day; all sharing the mission of "supporting the free expression of regular Americans' dissatisfaction with the embrace of Project 2025."
