South Bend Cubs playing ball all weekend while honoring veterans
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Cubs are taking on the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers all weekend long at Four Winds Field leading up to Memorial Day on Monday.
South Bend Cubs President, Joe Hart, gave the reminder that without our local heroes, playing ball wouldn’t be possible.
“They can get two free tickets to the game, either Saturday or Sunday they just need to bring proof of ID… it’s just a way to say thank you for their hard sacrifices, for them and their family… without their hard-work and service and sacrifice, we wouldn’t be playing baseball,” said Hart.
The first of three games took place Fri. evening, where the Rattlers took the win 2-1 over the Cubs. Over the weekend several events will take place in honor of the local veterans.
“…also on Sunday we’re going to have like a military fair, there’s going to be organizations here that have tables and booths set up, so if you are a veteran and you’re at the game and you’re looking for help with services, there may be one of those vendors here that can help you out as well,” explained Hart.
