David's Courage to raise awareness towards addiction with 'Ride for Recovery'

NOW: David’s Courage to raise awareness towards addiction with ’Ride for Recovery’

PLYMOUTH, Ind. — David’s Courage is a faith-based men’s addiction recovery center hosting their first ever Ride for Recovery at 9 a.m. today.

The organization offers therapy sessions twice a week, biblical counseling, AA and NA meetings, recovery celebrations and more to the members of its recovery program.

It partners with local prisons to take in men released from prison and offer a place where they can focus on recovery and bettering themselves further.

It also helps those individuals obtain important documents like birth certificates, identification and social security cards.

Since those struggling with addiction often push their health to the side, David’s Courage also offers assistance with scheduling and transportation to doctor or dentist appointments.

It has been serving the community in Marshall County and surrounding counties for 3 years now, but that has been more than enough time to make a lasting impact on many lives.

The event will start at David’s Courage on Lincoln Highway with a breakfast at 9 a.m., followed by a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction.

Those who haven’t registered ahead online will be able to register in person at that time as well.

The cost will be $25 per rider, which includes your entry to the ride, breakfast, and a t-shirt.

Breakfast will consist of biscuits and gravy, sausage and eggs, coffee, orange juice, or water and some blueberry donuts in light of the Marshall County Blueberry Festival taking place this weekend as well.

The men who stay at the facility pay a monthly fee which covers their housing, recovery programming, food, hygiene products and more, so the ride will help ease that cost for those who need it.

The motorcyclists will kick their kick stands up and take off right around 10:30 this morning, riding through the towns of Bourbon, Rochester and Argos and returning after about an hour.

If you don’t have a motorcycle but would still like to come to breakfast, the staff at David’s Courage invites you to join them for just $10. All of the proceeds go back into the organization to help it better serve men in their recovery journey.

David’s Courage has multiple openings and any male struggling with addiction is welcome and encouraged to apply. That application is online at their website, davidscourage.com.
