LAGRANGE, Ind. -- Storms across LaGrange knocked out power to more than 1,200 homes and businesses Wednesday night, but crews worked well into the overnight hours to restore it.
According to Emergency Management Director, Bill Morr, five homes in the town of LaGrange alone suffered structural damage from fallen trees as of 8:30 a.m.
By 9 a.m., less than 150 homes in the area were without power as morning crews began clearing trees, power lines and brush from the area.
The majority of the damage was centered around Michigan Street and Detroit Street, according to EMS.
Crews will be out throughout the day Thursday to clear as much damage as possible.
According to Morr, those who are without power and air conditioning are welcome at the local Sheriff's Office, which is set up as a temporary cooling center.
