NOW: Cold front dropping temperatures and allowing for pop up showers and storms

ABC57 First Warning Neighborhood Weather Forecast

Saturday, August 23rd, 2025

A cold front is expected to move through this afternoon, bringing the potential for isolated showers and thunderstorms through the evening. Due to limited humidity and atmospheric instability, any storms that develop are expected to remain non-severe, with occasional light rain and thunder possible.

As the front passes, temperatures will begin to drop tonight, with overnight lows falling into the 50s. The start of the workweek will feel cool, with daytime highs struggling to reach the 70s.

The cold front is also creating windy conditions along Lake Michigan, leading to high waves and dangerous swimming conditions. Red flags will be posted, and it is advised to stay out of the water through Tuesday due to the elevated swim risk.

Rain chances return Sunday night and linger through the first half of the week. Fall-like temperatures will continue, with highs continuing to hover in the 70s. A gradual warming trend is expected just in time for Labor Day Weekend, with temperatures returning to near-normal values.

Tonight: Clearing, cool. Low 58.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, cool. Evening/overnight showers. High 72.

Monday: Partly cloudy, cool. High 68.

Tuesday: Mild, Mostly sunny. Chance for showers. High 70.
