Notre Dame fans have been talking about a controversial comment head Coach Brian Kelly made after they beat Florida State in Tallahassee. ABC57 asked him about the statement and he clarified he was quoting another famous coach.
Immediately after the game, an ABC reporter asked Kelly about the performance of the Fighting Irish.
"Yeah, you know, I'm in favor of execution. Maybe our entire team needs to be executed after tonight. I mean we just did not execute well," Kelly said.
After the comment went viral on social media, ABC57's Allison Hayes asked him to clarify his statement.
"It was an old John McKay quote, I was kidding it was tongue-in-cheek. It wasn't funny? It was taken serious, are you people crazy?" Brian said. "It's a John McKay quote that he used, after a game, I was stealing one of his quotes and being funny. I guess no one likes to be funny anymore. I guess if you want to take me to town on that please do."
