The City of South Bend announced on Thursday that it will close Michigan Street between Western Avenue and Colfax Avenue on August 17th.
The closure will happen from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. while crews fill potholes and sweep streets to prepare for Art Beat.
“In preparation for Art Beat, we wanted to make sure to patch potholes and do preventative maintenance along Michigan Street.” says Derick Roberts, Director of Streets and Sewers.
Roberts says the city will make sure that downtown South Bend remains open for business during normal hours.
Officials say the city will post ‘no parking’ signs on August 15th. To ensure residents do not leave cars in the construction area.
