City of Mishawaka to launch relocation efforts for Canadian geese population

MISHAWAKA, Ind.-- The City of Mishawaka is a taking non lethal steps to manage the over population of Canadian geese as well as the damage to community spaces. The city secured a permit from the Indiana Department of Natural resources and is partnering with DNR approved wildlife management to humanely relocate the geese to suitable, approved habitats.
Mishawaka has used a wide variety of state recommended deterrents but where met with limited and temporary results. City leadership decided that the best course of action was relocation.
The initiative is backed by DNR biologist and is designed to protect the health of residents, the cleanness of public parks and private property as well as the long-term well-being of the human and wildlife populations.
