ELKHART, Ind. -- Child and Parent Services, or CAPS, held their annual Lifesaver Breakfast on Thursday morning.
The breakfast took place at The Lerner Theatre and encouraged families impacted by CAPS to share their stories.
CAPS focuses on ensuring that every child lives a life free from abuse and neglect.
"One thing that I would point out is that child abuse is prevalent in our county and it's something that CAPS is truly focused on and what we've done here, what we continue to do,” Brian Hall, the Board Chair of CAPS, said.
The service accomplishes these goals through education, advocacy, and intervention with families in the community.
“Our greatest impact was really strengthening families, preparing families to take care of their children, to create nurturing environments for their children,” Melinda Konrath-Fielding, the CEO of CAPS, added.
CAPS has events planned throughout April, which is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
