North Central Indiana Community Care Fair connects South Bend residents with vital resources

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Gillespie Conference Center hosted the North Central Indiana Community Care Fair, where workers from over forty organizations were available to provide various services to South Bend residents.

Whether it's financial assistance, childcare support or providing gas cards, these organizations have one goal, and that's outreach.

The Community Care Fair says housing remains a critical need in the community, with families seeking help finding stable and affordable places to live.

Just to buy a house, Redfin data shows that Indiana's median home sale price is up more than 3% since last year. Homeowners have seen this pattern of an increase in price over the last five years. Housing organizations like Geminus are helping people with the cost of inflation.

"We offer concrete support [by] getting them into new housing; we provide security deposits, first month's rent, utilities and beds for children," says Amanda Satterfield, the Regional Program Manager for Geminus.

This fair takes place in South Bend and provides a unique opportunity for residents to come to one spot and seek the resources they need. Next spring, the fair will visit Kosciusko County.
