Chicago man arrested for interstate road rage incident that left child shot

LAKE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division Lowell Post announced they, along with officers from U.S. Marshal’s Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, arrested 35-year-old Darrell A. Graham, of Chicago, in the 7000 block of Birch Avenue in Hammond, Ind.

Graham was arrested without incident following the extensive investigation of an interstate road rage incident which occurred on I-80/94 in a construction zone around 3:25 p.m. on June 3.

Police were called that day for a report of a shooting on the highway near Calumet Avenue.

A child younger than 14 was found to have sustained a gunshot in their lower extremities from the incident. Police say the injury was non-life-threatening.

Graham is charged with two counts of Attempted Murder, a level one felony, Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury to a Person Less Than 14 years old, a level three felony, Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon, a level five felony, Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury, a level five felony, Attempted Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon, a level five felony, and two counts of Criminal Recklessness- level six felony.

Graham is being held at the Lake County Jail.
