Chicago is now home to two more cubs

BROOKFIELD, Ill. -- Brookfield Zoo announced Monday that they are now home to two approximately 10-month-old Alaskan coastal brown bears.

According to the Brookfield Zoo Facebook page, the bear cubs were orphaned in southern Alaska, but due to collaborative efforts between the Zoo, Alaska Zoo and the Alaska Department of Fish and game (ADF&G) they have a home in Chicago.

ADF&G officials contacted Brookfield after safely retrieving the bears.

The bears were temporarily housed at Alaska Zoo before they made their way to Chicago.

On November 3, Brookfield Zoo sent animal care specialists to accompany the approximately 150-pound cubs on their journey to the Zoo's Great Bear Wilderness.

The cubs are expected to make their debut in the near future.
