CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears are apparently staying put in the Windy City, unveiling plans for a new domed stadium on the Lake Michigan waterfront just south of the existing Soldier Field.
The team confirms it is willing to commit more than two billion dollars into what would be a city-owned asset. It's a huge shift from the Bears original plan to build a new stadium in suburban Arlington Heights.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson says he's been in talks with the team to make sure the Bears stay in the city.
The new domed stadium would be built on the parking lots just south of the existing soldier field and would include public parks, plazas and walking trails on Lake Michigan.
