Storms start this afternoon
SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- An Indiana State Trooper is facing charges after a lengthy investigation of theft, fraud, and obstruction of justice.
An investigation began in mid-Oct. of 2024, when allegations of theft were made against 39-year-old Andrew G. Kocsis, who was contacted by an alleged victim of theft.
Special Prosecutor James D. Luttrull was assigned to this case on June 16, 2025, with charges being filed in the Saint Joseph County Superior Court.
Law enforcement states that probable cause was found for charges of Level 6 Felony Theft, Fraud Class A-Misdemeanor, and Level 6 Obstruction of Justice.
Kocsis has been an Indiana State Police Trooper since 2008. He has been given an initial court date of July 8, 2025.
Kocsis will be place on unpaid administrative leave until the conclusion of the internal investigation and criminal proceedings.
