Charges filed and warrants issued for four suspects in summer shooting on Bissell Street
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department announced charges have been filed and warrants have been issued for four suspects in connection with a July 2024 shooting in the 1300 block of Bissell Street that wounded four people.
Police say the shooting occurred on July 28, 2024, with SBPD Crime Scene Technicians verifying that more than 200 rounds were fired from multiple firearms.
The report states several homes and cars were also damaged by the shooting.
SBPD's Violent Crimes Unit investigated the shooting and have identified four suspects in the case.
The suspects include 21-year-old Deshon Gates, 24-year-old Jacob Pittman, 19-year-old Termel Reid, and 18-year-old Giovanni Tuggle.
Police say on Dec. 31, 2024, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office charged the four suspects for their roles in the shooting.
Authorities say Gates and Pittman are charged with Possession of a Machine Gun and Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, both felony charges, while Reid and Tuggle are charged with Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, a felony charge.
Police say Tuggle is being held at the St. Joseph County Jail for a separate incident, but Gates, Pittman, and Reid are not in custody at this time.
Gates, Pittman, and Reid are considered to be armed and dangerous.
