'Chalk the Block' in downtown St. Joseph

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- St. Joseph Today will be host to "Chalk the Block" on Broad Street in downtown St. Joseph from Friday until Sunday.

Organizers say chalk artists will take over part of downtown, where attendees can watch as both amateurs and professionals prepare their squares on Friday evening, work Saturday, and enjoy the completed chalk art on Sunday.

The family-friendly festival will showcase regional, national, and international artists.

Attendees can vote for their favorite chalk square in the People’s Choice.

Tickets will be sold at the People’s Choice Tent on Broad Street for a dollar each on Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. One ticket equals one vote.

Friday:

  • Artists begin chalking - Early evening
  • View the chalk in the Pleasant Street Plaza - All day

Saturday:

  • Artists continue chalking - All day
  • St. Joe Farmers Market - 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Lake Bluff Park
  • People's Choice voting - noon to 8 p.m.
  • Summer Movie Series hosted by City of St. Joseph - 7:30 p.m. in Milton Park

Sunday:

  • Chalk the Block viewing - All day
  • Antiques on the Bluff - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Lake Bluff Park
  • People's Choice Voting - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Municipal Band Concert - 7 p.m. at the John E.N. Howard Bandshell
