Cedar Point 150th anniversary celebration begins this weekend

SANDUSKY, Ohio – Cedar Point’s postponed 150th anniversary event begins this Saturday, marking the beginning of a 51-day celebration for the amusement park.

“It’s time. We’ve all waited more than a year to share this momentous occasion and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Carrie Boldman, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. “From the Celebrate 150 Spectacular to the unbelievable Ticket of a Lifetime, we’re pulling out all the stops as we recognize and celebrate 150 years of Cedar Point – the quintessential American summertime tradition.”

The anniversary celebration will be commemorated with a variety of new experiences and deals, like a new family river adventure ride, nighttime parade and party, commemorative merchandise, and more.

Ticket of a Lifetime

One of the ways Cedar Point is celebrating is with the Ticket of a Lifetime promotion. After awarding several through online contests and the park’s Everyday Heroes series, park guests now have a chance to win a Cedar Point Ticket of a Lifetime, which grants each winner, along with three guests, free admission to Cedar Point and Cedar Point Shores Waterpark for the rest of their lives.

During each day of the celebration, guests in the park who register will have five chances to win by scanning their mobile device at each Courtesy Corps information kiosk.

Winners of the promotion will be selected at random and announced nightly ahead of the Celebrate 150 Spectacular parade through the park’s limited-time CP150 app. This app also allows guests to win prizes for playing park trivia and gives parkgoers a chance to participate in the finale of the Celebrate 150 Spectacular show.

Celebrate 150 Spectacular 

Another new feature to Cedar Point during the anniversary celebration is the Celebrate 150 Spectacular, a multi-sensory parade featuring 12 illuminating floats that pay tribute to the iconic moments and innovations throughout Cedar Point’s history.

The parade ends with a street party at Celebration Plaza where guests can enjoy music, dancing, and pyrotechnics.

The Celebrate 150 Spectacular parade runs nightly through August 15.

Snake River Expedition

Cedar Point is revealing a new ride alongside its anniversary celebration. The Snake River Expedition is a river boat ride that immerses riders of all ages into a journey to smuggle valuables around Adventure Island, all while encountering surprises and “danger.”

The Taste of The Point

Parkgoers can purchase a Taste of The Point tasting card to try some of Cedar Point’s most famous foods transformed specifically for the celebration.

Commemorative Collectibles

Cedar Point is ringing in their 150th year with commemorative items to mark the occasion. Guests can choose from merchandise, key chains, buttons, and other collectibles to remember the event.

Cedar Point Legacy Walk

The Legacy Walk celebrates families, fans, and visitors with inscribed bricks located in the center of the Main Midway.

The 150th anniversary celebration runs from June 26 through August 26.
