Cass County man sentenced after pleading guilty to Animal Cruelty
Robert Dean Archer II CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- A man was sentenced on Friday after pleading guilty to three counts of Abandoning/Cruelty to One Animal, according to Cass County court documents.
The man, identified as Robert Dean Archer II, was initially charged with 14 counts, including Animal Cruelty and Failure to License Dog, in May 2025.
Archer was sentenced to 3 years of probation and ordered to pay restitution for benefit of Cass County Animal Control for costs associated with seized animals if requested.
The sentencing also notes that Archer must participate, comply with all rules, and successfully complete the mental health court program.
Court documents state while on probation, Archer shall not own or possess any animal without written order of the court.
If Archer successfully completes his probation, his counts may be reduced to misdemeanor charges of Abandoning/Cruelty to One Animal.
Archer was previously arrested in June 2023 on a bond revocation after Cass County sheriff's deputies found 107 animals in poor condition at a home on Lilac Avenue.
