ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- One man was cited for operating a motorboat while intoxicated after allegedly crashing into the shore of C.R. 16 Sunday evening.

Robert William Engel III was allegedly intoxicated as he was driving a 1997 Aztec Marine Coyote east along the St. Joseph River, until the boat crashed into the shore of C.R. 16 around 6:20 p.m.

Engel was injured with lacerations to his face and a broken pelvis, and he was transported to Elkhart General Hospital.

Of his three passengers, two received minor injuries, and none were taken to the hospital.
