Cass County man arrested for trafficking meth in Michigan and Indiana
CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- Multiple law enforcement agencies came together earlier this week to arrest an alleged meth dealer operating in Southern Cass County in Michigan and northern Elkhart County.
On May 21, the 49-year-old suspect, whose name is currently being withheld, was stopped by Indiana and Intelligence and Covert Enforcement Team agents, who found a half pound of crystal meth, a loaded revolver, and several thousands of dollars of suspected drug proceeds in the vehicle.
A search warrant was then served at the suspect’s residence in the 19000 block of S. Metcalf Court, in Mason Township, Mich.
"During the search warrant, Southwest Enforcement Team detectives located the suspect’s wife in their home. More than a pound of crystal methamphetamine was also located," authorities said. "The meth ranged in color from clear, purple, pink, and tan. Additional ammunition and evidence of drug distribution was discovered."
The male suspect was taken to the Elkhart County Jail for charges in Indiana.
"Additional warrants will be sought for the suspect and his wife through the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office," authorities said.
Authorities say that each year in Southwest Michigan, nearly twice as many lives are lost to fatal drug overdoses as are lost to fatal car crashes.
