Cass County crash sends three to the hospital

CASS COUNTY, Mich., --- A crash early Saturday morning in Dowagiac sent three people to the hospital.

Deputies responded to the crash at the intersection of Dailey Road and Pokagon Highway just before 9:00 am Saturday morning.

According to the investigation, a vehicle driven by a 60-year-old Fort Wayne resident was traveling west on Pokagon Hwy while another vehicle, driven by a 32-year-old Dowagiac resident, was traveling south on Dailey Road.

Officials said the Dowagiac driver stopped at the stop sign but failed to yield and struck the Fort Wayne driver's vehicle.

Both vehicles were pushed off the road. The Dowagiac driver had to be extricated out of his vehicle.

The Dowagiac driver had three other passengers in the vehicle.

The Fort Wayne driver was taken to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for her injuries.

The Dowagiac driver and one of his passengers were taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital.

Authorities said seatbelts were worn and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
